Ian, along with his business partner, Dr Miriam O’Hare, founded Micron Research - the original entity that has now evolved into The Micron Group of companies worldwide. Ian brings scientific, clinical development, marketing and pharmaceutical industry experience into Micron.

Prior to co-founding Micron Research in 1996, Ian ran a consultancy company specialising in clinical R&D and medical-marketing communications. His prior industry experience was with Bayer and Marion Merrell Dow. He also ran the GCP Compliance Unit of a major CRO prior to starting his own business in 1992.

Ian holds a PhD in fungal pathology from the University of Bath and a BSc in Microbiology from the University of London. He has published widely in the field of Infectious Diseases and is particularly well-known for the design, management and reporting of resistance surveillance studies.
